The Last Line of Their Lives

Contemporary Fiction,182 pages, Ages 13+

In the wealthy town of Emmitsville, the most sought-after real estate isn’t the sprawling properties outside of town or the stately residences along Main Street. It’s the plots in Cotterman Cemetery, the town’s most historic and prestigious burial ground.

As physician to most of the town’s elite for the last 15 years, Dr. Greg Patterson has focused on keeping his patients out of the cemetery for as long as possible. When his friends who run the funeral home face an unexpected rush of interest in the last few burial plots, Greg reluctantly gets a close-up look as the town’s richest and most powerful race to the finish in a bizarre bid to secure their place for all time.

The Last Line of Their Lives gives readers a thoughtful, funny, and heartwarming look at the human tendency to seek out significance and carve our names in the earth—in whatever ways we can.

The McMillan Way

Mallard, Ohio is a town roaring into the future. At least, that’s how mayoral candidate Lester McMillan sees it. It’s 1920. The War is over. The Flu is gone. Women can vote. Automobiles, radios, and telephones are changing the way of life for good. He’s determined to lead his rural community toward progress. Not everyone around, however, is ready to jump on board—including some in his own family. Embracing the future can be a frightening prospect. His oldest daughter, Rosie, comes to understand this when she’s surprised by an offer to leave town and pursue her ambitions. Lonnie, a family friend, also grapples with the risks of moving into the unknown when he returns to Mallard after an extended absence. Both of them must face their fears and decide whether they will take that all-important step forward. Their story is poignant and instructive for young and old alike!

This four act play is ideal for high schools, colleges, and community theater groups. A simple setting with memorable characters and a lively plot make for a production that will delight audiences of all ages. The McMillan Way is a new play with a familiar family touch!

The Elixir of Love

Norman, a hapless resident of Riley's Ridge, believes he'll never win the attention or affection of his beloved Adina with dashing Sergeant Belcore around to sweep her off her feet.  When Dr. Dulcamara, a fast-talking salesman, arrives with a box of potions and a barrage of fanciful promises, Norman sees an opportunity to change his fortune.  The results are hilarious and heartwarming!  Based on a classic Donizetti opera, this delightful comedy combines the romance and adventure of the Old West with a convoluted tale of charlatans and the power of perception.
